Myanmar announces plans for restarting international passenger flights

Published on : Tuesday, March 22, 2022
Myanmar has announced its plans for restarting international passenger flights from April 17. Lifting a two-year ban was announced by the military on Saturday. Myanmar had closed its borders to international visitors in March 2020 with the onset of the pandemic.
Later, a military coup upset the country’s tourism industry quite badly.
The National Central Committee on Prevention, Control and Treatment of Coronavirus Disease said, “We will open all international flights on 17 April, and can fly as regularly.” The decision was taken to improve the tourism sector, and for visitors to have a smooth trip in Myanmar.
The health ministry of Myanmar said that as of now, only fully vaccinated tourists can enter the country.
The rules to enter Myanmar are:
1) Only fully vaccinated travelers will be allowed to enter.
2) Foreign travelers will have to quarantine for a week.
3) Two RT PCR tests will be done.
